(I shall not be living there – this is a mail drop only). I will have no phone or fax number for quite a while, although I hope to get a mobile phone sometime soon. My email address remains: bjw[at], please use it if you need to contact me. I am going to have to rent this flat out in the New Year, and am frantically decorating it in the remaining time. Please contadt me if you are interested in it.

SF in Ireland Newsletter is available free by email from blackrock[at] Previous newsletters are available at Both are an excellent guide to SF in their respective countries, and with news from the rest of the English speaking world.

Some while back I first received email messages from a Yugoslav SF group called Faros, I was one of a number of fans to receive it. I sent them email issues of this newsletter throughout months of silence, expecting no answer given the situation. I was astounded when a couple of weeks back I received a fanzine from them by post. It was dated April, and posting had obviously been spread, but I'm so used to sending email into black holes that I never expected a reply at all. The introduction contained a huge list of thanks to the western fans who had been sending them fanzines, books, etc. – and a motley crowd it was too, individual fans and Star Trek clubs alongside University departments!

The rest of the fanzine contained a history of the local fandom, reports on conventions in Yugoslavia and Croatia, SF book reviews, SF short stories, and other SF news items. They had obviously mined the material they were sent for news. It was written in Serb, using latin script.

They obviously want contact, and willl give information in exchange (unlike some others). If you are interested in contacting them the name is: Faros: Srdjan Stankovic, and their email address is: faros[at] Sorry about the lack of a postal address – it got lost in the current chaos around here.

Sorry, I've run out of steam and news... see you next month! :-(
